Managing your own money for the first time comes with real decisions. A few smart habits make it easier.

Earn as you go
Start with PayPal+¹, a free rewards programme built around your everyday spending. Earn 1 point for every £10 you spend at checkout with PayPal. Pay with the PayPal Debit Card2, online or in store, and earn up to 10x the points, that’s 10 points for every £10 spent.

Shop the brands you already use
Shop with names for up to 15% back in PayPal+ points3, on top of your usual student discount codes4. You’re never choosing between the two. When you want to redeem them, 1000 PayPal+ points are worth £10 off at PayPal checkout.

Plan ahead for bigger costs
For bigger costs you’ve already planned for, like a laptop for your course or festival tickets with your mates, Pay in 35 and Pay in 306 let you spread the cost over time instead of paying it all upfront, and you still earn PayPal+ points along the way. Just plan for the repayments too and only use credit if you’re confident you can pay it back. These are tools to help you plan, not a reason to spend more.

Set up in minutes
Setting up takes a few minutes. There’s no new bank account to open or enroll in. Download the PayPal app, link the bank account or card you already use, and switch on PayPal+ so you can start earning points from your first coffee run or eligible order of term.
